One Response to “Tales from the Compost Bin”

Doo Wah Derek Says:

Sorry to be replying two moths after the fact but I love the topic. I recently built a compost bin using some lumber I had in the garage and a barrel that I was going to use for rain collection. I decided not to collect the rain since I don’t have a garden and if I used the water on the lawn then I’d just have to mow more (I’m lazy give me a break).

I totally agree that compostable items SHOULD NOT be thrown away. I can’t imagine how many bags of grass and leaves are simply thrown away to never be decomposed to dirt and never reintroduce to the soil :(

We compost everything! I shred paper and junk mail, dryer lint, of course all food scraps (except old meat), I even dump out the vacuum canister into the bin. I love it.

Like I mentioned before I don’t have a garden. If I can’t find anyone who could use it, I simply spread my compost into the yard.

here’s a pic of my bin: http://home.everestkc.net/tsmith74217/compost2.jpg
